Tuesday's Tunes

Is it just me, or do the weeks seem to be going by so quickly?!   It's time for Tuesday's Tunes again already!  Here are the tunes that I have been loving this week:

Shake It Off - Taylor Swift
Having the tv on music channels in the background while crafting, this song seems to be on a LOT, so it's stuck in my head!

I'm Not The Only One - Sam Smith
I am lucky enough to have seen Sam Smith perform live (at Radio One's Big Weekend) and his voice is so so good.

Ugly Heart - G.R.L.
The chorus keeps going round and round in my head!!

The Red Kites Are Back!

Ever since I returned from the Commonwealth Games, the Red Kites haven't been too active.  Before I left, they had been out and about every single day without fail for a good few months.  It was quite a relief when I heard them calling the other afternoon, and caught sight of three of them.  They soon disappeared though, but it was good to see them again.  I managed to snap this picture of one of them with my new camera.  I'm still trying to get used to the camera, however, I quite like the way this photo came out.  It almost looks a little arty.  This red kite isn't Mossy, or his female companion... so maybe, an offspring?  It looked like there were some feathers missing on both wings and the tail (symmetrical, so I'm thinking yet to develop??). Here's hoping it's a baby kite for Mossy, as that would be nice!

#HePicksMyPolish - September

#HePicksMyPolish
September

I have missed a few months of the #HePicksMyPolish, however, I am back!!  Let's recap on what the challenge involves:
Have a 'he' (other half, dad, brother, uncle, friend, random man etc) pick 1-3 nail polishes and then you have to come up with a nail look or some nail art, with these polishes.

My 'he' for this month is my boyfriend, Jamie.  He picked me out Cherimoya - Love Drunk, Revlon Chroma Chameleon - Aquamarine and Technic - Gardenia. (he didn't get stressed out like last time either, phew!!).  I was very impressed with his choices, and immediately thought galaxy manicure.  I think it was because I always use this purple in my galaxy manis and I also have a darker Revlon Chroma Chameleon that I use too, but I was determined that this lighter blue was going to work. I also figured that technic gardenia would be fine for stars.

L-R: Cherimoya - Love Drunk, Revlon Chroma Chameleon - Aquamarine & Technic - Gardenia.

I Won A Giveaway!

Bad blogger, AGAIN.  I have just found this post lurking in my draft folder.  It's from a few months ago.  Oops.

As the title of the post says... I WON A GIVEAWAY! In fact, I won TWO giveaways, on the same day!  How awesome is that!!  I haven't won any blog/rafflecopter giveaways before so it was a huge surprise!

Here is my first prize from the lovely Tracey (BiteNoMore).
Check out her blog, she has lots and lots of awesome manicures on there - her nail art is fantastic!!

Canada at the Commonwealth Games Nail Art

Here is the only nail art I did on my own nails during the Commonwealth Games!  I didn't even have time to take any good pictures.  I also found out that it is easier to do maple leaves on nail art wheels, and on other people than on my own nails.  I was assigned to Team Canada, hence the Canadian flags, and thought I would include a couple of Saltires as the Commonwealth Games were in Glasgow.

We had decided that we would do a gold/silver/bronze nail for each of the medals that Canada won - well, we certainly didn't have enough nails for that!!  On the day I did my nails, Canada had won one silver and 4 golds (only to go and win a couple more golds the same day!).  The gold I used was called Mini Magic by Taras Talons.

Tribal Nail Art

I think I have found my favourite design to do.  Tribal.
If I am lacking nailspiration, I know I can do a tribal design, which will look pretty creative and interesting, without having to think too much.  After being away at the Commonwealth Games for a few weeks, not having too much time to do my nails, I decided to get back into nail art by doing a bright tribal design.

I used PS Nail Polish (From Primark - £1!) in Orange and Mint Green, as well as a Glow in the Dark PS Nail Polish (Primark - £1.50) in Yellow.
The blue I used was Collection 2000 'Blue Hawaii' (Poundland, £1 for 3!).
For the detail, I used a black Rio nail art pen and a white nail art pen from Primark.

I made a cabochon ring to match my nails!

What is your 'go to' nail art?

Clyde-Sider Journey - Part Ten

Welcome to Part Ten of my Clyde-Sider series.

I have (mostly) written these posts as I have done the various media days, training days and shifts (or a day or two after).  I hope you enjoy the tales of my time volunteering for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games!!  This is a very picture heavy post, oops!

On the 3rd, I was on an early shift and had very little to do first thing.  Everyone else was out and about on drives, so Clyde & I watched the women's road race on TV in Canada HQ.  Once everyone returned, Suzie & I had a little walk around the village and it was starting to feel pretty empty!  The weather definitely wasn't as good towards the end of the Games, and we got absolutely soaked returning from our late lunch, but luckily it was time for me to get changed and get ready to go to the Closing Ceremony. I went to Burger King (again - gotta make the most of it! haha) for dinner, and then I met up with Hannah. We were one row from the front!  The Closing Ceremony was great, and I was glad I went (I did have an invitation to a Reception with David Cameron, but I thought I would regret not going to the Closing Ceremony when I had the chance!).

Miss this guy!

Coaches Lounge before we got started taking everything down.

Week 35 Fingerfood's Theme Buffet - Negative Space

This is my first attempt at negative space nails.  They looked better in my head than this!!  Saying this, I have grown to like them and keep looking at them. My favourite is my index finger, and I'd quite like to recreate this on all my nails.

I decided to do the design I have been loving recently, tribal, and leaving bare nails where I could maybe have done white.  I used all nail art pens for this, blue and red Rio ones, and a Poundland red.  These definitely didn't turn out too bad for a quick ten minute job!

If I have some time tomorrow night, I may try and do an improved negative space mani.  If not, see you all next week for marbling!

Week 34 Fingerfood's Theme Buffet - Inspired by Music

Fingerfood's Theme Buffet
Week 34
Inspired by Music

I have been a bad blogger and missed SO many weeks of Fingerfood's Theme Buffet!  It does not feel like that long ago that I was last writing a Theme Buffet post though, time has flown by!  I'm posting this late too, as I started out with great intentions, but never got round to doing a complete manicure.  I wanted to share my practice nails though!!  I have been inspired by my favourite song, 'That Kiss', by The Courteeners.

Still not perfect, but the best of my 3 attempts!

Clyde-Sider Journey - Part Nine

Welcome to Part Nine of my Clyde-Sider series.

I have (mostly) written these posts as I have done the various media days, training days and shifts (or a day or two after).  I hope you enjoy the tales of my time volunteering for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games!!

I was off all day on the 30th as I had athletics tickets for the morning session with Hannah - the only tickets I had won from the ticketing ballot.  I also managed to get a ticket for the evening session from Martin as his friend couldn't make it from London and was selling his two tickets.  Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone to go with, but I wasn't going to miss it just for that reason!!

In the morning, we saw:
Men's 200m Round 1
Women's Long Jump Qualifying
Men's Discus Qualifying
Women's High Jump Qualifying
Men's 400m Hurdles Round 1
Women's Heptathlon Long Jump
Women's 800m Round 1

Katherine & Lindsay!! (taken by Lindsay!)
Hannah & I!
