Goodbye, May.

In a post at the start of May (Hello, May) I introduced  series of posts that I would be doing at the start of each month.  I decided to also do one at the end of each month with a recap on how the month went, and if it went as planned, or not.

May Recap:

Queen of the South v Falkirk.
Queens won this match, however they lost the second leg up at Falkirk in extra time.

Role Specific Training.
I met up with Suzie the evening before training which was nice, I can't remember when I saw her last, but I think it was a while ago!  I was really nervous before the training, however, in hindsight, I don't know why.  Everyone was really nice and there was nothing hard to do!

Mossy & Mrs Mossy

Mossy & Mrs Mossy
28th/29th May, 2014
Dumfries & Galloway

Here are the latest photo's of Mossy and Mrs Mossy!

Here is Mossy.

I was lying in bed on Thursday morning (29th), and all I could hear was the red kite calling, and it was so loud, clear and persistent that I knew that it was very close.  I got up and saw that Mossy was on the telegraph post right outside my window!  I only had time to grab my camera, and take one picture before he went away!  Note, it was still a bit dark and grey outside.

My Big Weekend

Radio One's Big Weekend ~ Ideal Home Show
24th - 26th May, 2014
Picture Heavy Post!

I had an amazing weekend, but I'm extremely tired now!

Day One
Friday

An early start for a trip up as far as Hamilton, with my mum & brother, then I continued on to Glasgow, where I was meant to meet my friend Suzie (but she never appeared! But at least I got to have chilli cheese bites while I was waiting! I also spied Tiësto loitering backstage and could see everybody getting ready for Friday's Big Weekend show!), then I went to Milngavie to meet Hannah, before we went back to hers, via Stirling Tesco - You could say I was very well travelled!!

My nails for the weekend!
(I probably should have done another layer of green!)

Swatches - P.S. & Sarah Smiles

P.S. - Mint Green
Sarah Smiles - Balancing Act

Today I have some swatches for you.  Now, I'm not a big fan of green, however, I find these two polishes quite acceptable.   In fact, they are more than just 'acceptable', I love them!  They are very fresh, and something I will definitely be wearing in the Summer.

Here is a lovely mint green polish by P.S. (£1 from Primark - BARGAIN!).

Three Coats, no base coat or top coat.

Mossy, Mrs Mossy & Missy

Mossy, Mrs Mossy & Missy
May 15th, 2014
Dumfries & Galloway

Mrs Mossy (I can see a tag!)
The lovely red kites enjoy the sun, and they were again playing really close to my house, so I tried to take a few shots of them.  I just wished they moved a little slower, and my camera focussed a little quicker!  Mossy & his Mrs have also been joined by a third Kite.  She (I don't really know if it is a she!) is to be known as Missy.  I just need to find a way of telling Mossy & Missy apart!

Week 19 Fingerfood's Theme Buffet - For Scarlett

Fingerfood's Theme Buffet
Week 19
For Scarlett

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCARLETT!

This week's theme is 'For Scarlett'.  The brains behind the theme buffet is Sam @ Fingerfood, and her daughter Scarlett turns 8 today, so the theme is dedicated to her!  Cute!

Here is my birthday manicure.
I think it's quite fun, bright and cheerful.

Blue/White & Yellow/Black Nail Art

Just a quick blog post to share two recent nail art looks I did recently which I love!  Both looks were really quick to do.

The first look is a blue and white look with polka dot accent nail, which I did for a football match.  My team Queen of the South were in the play-offs to get promoted, and their colours are blue and white, so I did my nails before I went to the match.

For this look, I used:
JESS - French White
Models Own Hyper Gel - Blue Glint
W7 - Clear Top Coat
Dotting Tool
The second look was for the away leg of the play-off match for Queen of the South (I couldn't go, but was there in spirit!).  The away colours were yellow and black for the 2013/14 season.  I also realised that these colours are the Chennai Super Kings colours (the IPL team I follow).  They were playing on the same day, so I had nails supporting both these teams!

In my eagerness to get my top coat on with enough time to dry properly before I went to bed,
my zig zags smudged, booo!

For this look I used:
Rimmel - Black Out
Barry M - Lemon, under Missguided - Misslead
W7 - Clear Top Coat
Nailvinyls

Week 18 Fingerfood's Theme Buffet - Oriental

Fingerfood's Theme Buffet
Week 18
Oriental

I (AGAIN) missed another 2 weeks of the Theme Buffet, Oops.  But this week, I have for you all my contribution to the 'oriental' theme.  Now, I had no idea what to do, as all the mani's I saw being posted onto the Facebook group were so intricate, and arty - now me, I'm no good at intricate or arty, so I was worried I was going to have to sit this week's theme out.  I did a quick google image search for 'Oriental Nail Art', and I quickly saw loads of cherry blossom style nails... So I them googled cherry blossom tutorial, as I have never done cherry blossom before.

I found a great tutorial here: Did My Nails.

However, I didn't really stick to it.  I used the same sort of colours, but I wasn't feeling patient enough to do groups of five dots and three dots - plus my dots just seemed to be massive! - so i ended up just doing random dots wherever I felt like!  Now stand by for some special instructions....

#HePicksMyPolish - April

#HePicksMyPolish
April

These polishes were again picked by my boyfriend, Jamie.  Bless, he got a little stressed because I rushed him!  He said he is very into pastel colours at the moment, so that influenced his picking.

He picked:

High Brow (Purple)
Outdoor Girl - Coral Pink (Peach)
Rimmel - Sweet as Sugar (Blue)
Personally, I don't think the 'coral pink' has any hint of pink in it whatsoever!

I immediately thought I would do dots for at least part of this manicure.  I don't think I have done a full nail of dots before (correct me if I am wrong haha!).  I am really pleased, especially with my index finger - the blue and purple look really lovely together.  I am also impressed with the smaller dots on my middle finger.  I did both with the same dotting tool.

For my ring finger and pinky, I picked up my fan brush (is it even called that?) and just started painting!  I have not used this brush before so thought I'd give it a use.  I actually quite like the look i achieved.  It reminds me of feathers.

Without flash - poor light.
With flash.

Without flash - slightly better light!

I think these three pastels go quite well together, especially the blue and purple.  I initially wasn't too keen on the orange being in there too, but once I got the colours on my nails, I was happy enough.  I used a white base coat under all my nails, as in the bottles the polishes looked really pale, and I think it makes them pop - well it does in real life anyway, my pictures are a bit crap.

In the future I am going to do a whole manicure incorporating the blue and purple and dots, because I love it so much.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post!

Take a look at the other fantabulous manicures which were done as part of the #HePicksMyPolish April challenge:

Friday, 2 May 2014

Hello, May.

Over the next few months I have some very exciting things planned to look forward to.  I saw on Princess of Pretty's blog that she does a monthly round up (of her new year's resolution) and preview of the next month and I thought this was a great idea, so for May-August I will be doing a post based loosely around this idea!

My May looks a little like this:

May 6th - Queen of the South's play off match v Falkirk
Looking forward to Queen of the South being in the play-offs - although not looking forward to having to pay for the tickets, as I'm used to having my season ticket (and I'm still praying they introduce a season ticket holders discount - it's not much to ask for....)!  If QOS win this match, they still have to play a second leg.  And thennn they would play another 2 leg fixture, before a final against the team who finished 11th in the Scottish Premiership. *Update - Queens won 2-1!

May 20th - Role Specific Training for being a Clyde-Sider at the Commonwealth Games!
This is going to be awesome! My role at the Commonwealth Games is CGA Assistant - and that's all I'm going to say because I'm not sure quite how strict the media regulations are aha!

Image from Here.

May 24th - Radio One's Big Weekend!!
YES!  I'm going to the Big Weekend with my friend Hannah.
On the Saturday the line up is as follows... One Direction, Coldplay, Calvin Harris, Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris, Pharrel Williams, Bastille, Lily Allen, Jake Bugg, Example, Clean Bandit, Lords, Bombay Bicycle Club, Katy B, Twin Atlantic, Wilkinson & The Kooks.  Just look at that line up... and I'm not ashamed to say that I am REALLY looking forward to seeing One Direction.  I also can't wait to see Calvin Harris (Dumfries lad!) and Jake Bugg.

May 25th - Radio 1 Big Weekend!!
I was lucky and managed to get tickets to both Saturday & Sunday!  I was on the ball when they were released... I had an alarm set and everything!! I am so excited!
Here is the line up for Sunday... Katy Perry, Kings of Leon, Paolo Nutini, Kasabian, Tinie Tempah, Rita Ora, The 1975, John Newman, The Vamps, Sub Focus, You Me At Six, London Grammar, Sam Smith, Chvrches, Klaxons & Gorgon City.  Another awesome line-up!  Particularly looking forward to Katy Perry, Tinie Tempah, You Me At Six and Chvrches.

May 26th - Ideal Home Show.
Ahhh this will be so good!  I love looking at homes, and furnishings and everything homey!

May 29th - Uniform & Accreditation pick up for the Commonwealth Games!
Back up to Glasgow again!  Looking forward to finally getting my uniform, which I actually really like the look of... It's red, grey, white and black - you may have seen it in the papers or on the news!

May 31st - My Giveaway ends!
Have you entered yet? Please do! You could win a cute bracelet & earring set!  Here is the post with all the details.

So that is what my May looks like! I also have things like: keeping up with blogging and nail art challenges aaaand I need to list all my new crafting stock on eBay, which I know I am going to keep putting off, as it's going to take me ages!!

What are you most looking forward to in May? Are you going to Radio One's Big Weekend too?

Addicted2Sparkle (Giveaway!)

As a few of you may know, I have started making my own jewellery.  I currently sell on etsy, and ebay, although prices are slightly cheaper if you buy off me directly through facebook or email.  I am also going to sell some bits and bobs that can be used in crafting and jewellery making.  I got a great deal on all these products, so I can offer them at a good price.

To help with exposure, I have decided to set up a giveaway - see the Rafflecopter below!  There will be one prize of a black & pink Addicted2Sparkle Fantasy Horse bracelet and matching earrings (shown below).  This is only a small giveaway, as I have not been selling my jewellery long.  I shall do more giveaways in the future, when milestones are reached on twitter, facebook and through online sales.

I will also be on the lookout for 3 bloggers shortly to do a review of some of my products.  Leave me a comment if you are interested :) - I will be doing this at the start of June.
