Guest Post - A day in the life of; ThePerksOfMeg

Hello everyone, I'm ThePerksOfMeg and I'm doing a guest post for the lovely Emma and here you will see what I got up to on one of my days; it was the weekend. You can come and see my blog for more beauty and lifestyle posts here and maybe even give me a follow here.

Firstly I got out my John Green collection to see what book I should read next; I've read The Fault In Our Stars (there will be a review of this on my blog soon) and I've read paper towns and I have a review of it here and I loved them.

Then I looked through the Benefit brochure and lusted over all the products that I need in my life.

I then went to a party to past the time and then we watched football and I didn't get in till 1:30am haha! I also didn't go to bed until 4:00am, whoops!

In between these photos I did a bit of editing and blog scheduling for all of you and then slept. As you can see my days are quite chilled and I don't really do much. I don't go to a party every weekend either but it made a nice change.

I hope you've enjoyed this guest post!

Thanks Megan for writing this guest post for me!  I hope you had a great time at the party.
You should all go and check out her blog!

And so... it's the 27 (TWENTY-SEVENTH!) of July now (although I'm scheduling this on the 24th of June!) - and I am on my 15th Clyde-Sider shift in the Commonwealth Games Village!!  Catch you all later :)

Guest Post - Beauty UK Posh Pout Review by Eleanor

Hey guys! My names Eleanor from www.littlethoughtsfromlittlepeople.blogspot.co.uk and I’m here to do a guest blog post on Emma’s blog! Over on my blog I do feel good, ego boosting posts while dealing with important issues and controversial subjects and essential messages, I also do beauty and book reviews and hauls and once a month a music post where I run down the charts and talk about new up and coming stars. Today on Emma’s blog I wanted to do a little beauty review since I know that’s what most of Emma’s followers will be into.  So I wanted to review Beauty UK Posh Pout moisturizing tinted lip balm which at the moment is my all-time favourite lip product.  This range comes in six colours which you can see here:

My favourite colour is the sugar plum fairy one. I find this to be such a lovely every day colour to use that’s not overly bright (like I always panic lip products will be) but it is noticeable unlike some tinted lip balms are. This Is definitely pigmented and feels more like a lipstick than say Maybelline baby lips (to which I’m addicted fyi) which is also a tinted lip balm which is definitely more of a balm. If you’re like me and lipsticks aren’t really your thing due to thin or dry lips, these are amazing. It makes my lips look fuller rather than emphasising the thinness and because it’s a moisturizing lip balm it means doesn’t dry my lips out and have a dry crackled skin finish which I find with hella lipsticks. The product tastes is mint flavoured so you don’t get any sickly sweet taste that gives you a headache, not to mention that these are extremely cheap at about three pounds each! I’m definitely looking forward to getting more colours and wholly recommend you try these out too!

Great review from Eleanor there!  I love the colours of these lip balms, and after that review I may well be tempted to try them out!  Thank you for writing this guest post for my blog!

Guest Post - Doctor Who Nails by Alexandria

Hello Lovelies!

I'm Alexandria from A girl and her chicken named Betty and I'm so happy to be guest posting for Emma today! When I asked Emma what sort of nail art I should do, she told me to just do whatever I wanted, and what do I immediately think of when I can do anything I want? Doctor Who of course!

I freehanded some of the various Doctor's catchphrases on each nail, my thumb says Brilliant, index is Geronimo, middle is What (one of my favorites from Ten), ring is Allonsy, and my pinkie is Cool.

My base is EN-VY blue my mind and I used various blues for the wording, I think the thumb came out the best, the blues go together very nicely!

Polishes I used:

EN-VY blue my mind,
Wet n Wild wild shine I need a refresh-mint,
Pure Ice home run,
Zoya giovanna,
NYC cashmere creme,
Lotus Herbals colour dew deep sea,
Wet n Wild wild shine clear nail protector,
and a detail brush.

Thanks for reading and thanks to Emma for having me!

Thank you very much for doing this post Alexandria!

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

I am always on the lookout for freebies with magazines, and when I was looking for a magazine for my next bus journey up to Glasgow I saw Glamour had free liquid eyeliner with it!  I love eyeliner, it's the one makeup item I feel completely naked without!

The magazine was only £2!  The packaging stated that the total value of the two free gifts (one was the eyeliner I bought, the other was a navy eyeliner which I didn't see in the shop) was £24, so quite a bargain!

This eyeliner - Skinny Liquid Eyeliner - can be bought on the eyeko website here for £12.
I also found it on the Selfridges website here for £10.

On the box that it comes in, there are some straight to the point descriptions of the product:
'Long Lasting, Intense Colour, Easy Application'
'Instantly Define, Line & Emphasize'
'Smudge-Proof, Fade-Proof and Above All Foolproof'

I also like the fact that the product is that the company is against animal testing.

The point of the eyeliner is nice and thin.  I have tried it on my hand (as you can see above) and on my eyes (no picture of that, I'm not a fan of my face close up!).  The eyeliner went on really smoothly and was nice and black!  It is possible to do winged eyeliner pretty easily with it too, which is a big plus in my book!
The big downside is that, if you don't store the eyeliner tip down, it gets dry quite quickly.  Also, if you do not do your eyeliner quick enough, it starts to remove it, when you go over the same place twice.
I have, however, managed to track down the navy eyeliner, as I am impressed with the point of the liner.  I just need to remember to store them standing upright!

Seventeen Juicy Neons - Pink

Nail polishes are a big weakness of mine and I always like trying out new polishes.  I decided to try out one of the new Seventeen Juicy Neon polishes.  I was torn as to which one to get, but after much deliberation I went with the pink one.

Ignore the less than perfect bases, I knew I'd be covering them up!

For the base I used, L-R: LA Colors Base Coat (on all nails), Jess - Playmate (index), Nails Inc - Sugarloaf Sunset (middle), Jess - French White (ring) and Rimmel - Black Cab (pinky).

3 coats.
3 coats over base coat.
This polish goes on very thinly and is very watery and sheer.  I don't think I'd wear this polish on its own as I'm not that in to the sheer look.  I do however love how it looks over the different pinks, white and black.  Over pinks it gives them a nice glittery shimmer - not so sure about it being neon though.  Over black it turns blue!!  It's hard to believe that this is the same polish that I have on all of my nails as my little finger looks completely different to the others!   I really like the effect over black, but my favourite was 3 coats over Nails Inc Sugarloaf Sunset.

Hello, July.

Oh what a month July shall be!

4th July Onwards - 'Moving' to my Games Time Accommodation.
So soon! I have my first shift on the 8th July, however, I shall be moving up to my Games Time accommodation a little early, as I am going to see Hannah carrying the Baton for the Commonwealth Games.

5th July - Hannah Carrying The Baton!
My friend Hannah is going to be part of the Queen's Baton Relay, so I'm going to go and support her!  It will be nice to watch the relay, as when I saw it in Castle Douglas, I was a steward so couldn't enjoy it quite as much.

8th July Onwards - Commonwealth Games!!
You are probably fed up of hearing about this on my blog - sorry but there will be more posts to come after the Games have finished - but I finally start my shifts as a Clyde-Sider!  I am based in the Commonwealth Games Village which is going to be pretty cool, although it is really big so I hope I don't get lost too often!
