Liebster Award #4

Liebster Award

When I first got notified that I was nominated, I thought I wasn't eligible, however on reading the post of my nominator, the rules seem different to the ones I have been used to!  So going by the rules of my nominator, I am eligable.  I have decided just to answer the questions which Chloe asked.  If anybody has under 200 followers (or 1000?!) and would like me to tag them, comment and I shall add in questions for you!!

Firstly, thank you very much to Chloe over at Chloe for the nomination!  Chloe is on the other side of the world over in Australia, which is one mega awesome thing I love about the blogging community - there are bloggers from all over the world!  Definitely go and check out her blog, it is a mix of Fashion, Lifestyle and Beauty.

So, here are the rules (taken from Chloe's post) - I have crossed out the ones that I haven't done (BAD EMMA!):
1. Thank the blog that nominated you, and link their blog link on your blog.
2. Display the award (image) on your blog.
3. Provide 11 random facts about yourself.
4. Answer 11 questions about yourself, that is provided by the blog that nominated you.
5. Nominate 11 blogs that you feel deserve this award (Note: the blog does have to have under 1000 followers)
6. Create a new list of questions for your nominated blogs to answer.
7. List all of these rules (you can copy and paste)
8. Inform the nominated blogs about this award, and also provide a link for them to your post, so then they can understand the rules (because they may not have even heard about it).

Questions from Chloe:

1. What is your favourite beauty product? (Mascara, lipstick, etc.)

Apart from Nail Polish, my favourite beauty product is eyeliner.  I feel incomplete without eyeliner on!

2. What is your top 3 favourite songs?
Oooh, tricky question!  My all time favourite song is 'That Kiss' by The Courteeners, I love 'Better Best Forgotten' by Steps as it reminds me of my childhood, and last but by no means least 'Dear God' by Avenged Sevenfold as it is Jamie & I's song.

3. Do you play a musical instrument? if so what instrument?
Me in my soft shell jacket.
It is fleece lined, so warm and cosy!
I used to play the cello, I got up to grade 4.  I play the piano and I got up to grade 7 before I left to go to uni.  I now just play it for fun and not for exams!  I have played many musical instruments over my time at school though, and at one point I was considering going to study music at university!

4. What is your favourite clothing piece?
I love my black skinny jeans, and my Clyde-Sider soft shell jacket!

5. What are you scared of?
Lots and lots of things... Butterflies, mascots, fireworks, spiders, death, loud noises, lightening, creepy crawlies, feeling trapped, new situations, being out of routine.... I could probably go on...

6. Do you prefer sweet or savoury food?
I think I have a very sweet tooth! I could quite happily skip main course and go straight to dessert!

7. What is your favourite clothing pattern? (Floral, etc.)
I don't wear many patterns, but the ones I do wear are florals.

8. What is your favourite holiday? (Christmas, etc.)
Summer!  My birthday is in Summer, and it is usually when most of my plans are for!  I also feel a lot happier when the sun is out and it's nice and bright.

9. What is your dream job?
Something within in the sports tourism industry!  I love sports, and find tourism interesting - I have studied both so it would be the perfect industry for me! Not entirely sure what specific role I want though, I'm open to offers!!

10. What is your favourite colour?

11. Why did you start blogging?
Procrastination, boredom, loneliness and just to have something that I can look back on.

Once again, thank you Chloe!

#HePicksMyPolish - June

Nail Art Challenge
Picture Heavy Post!

These are the colours that my brother picked for me last month!  I was planning on doing two looks for the May challenge, but life got in the way and I did a quick mani using these colours but it was a TOTAL fail.... so I managed a total of zero.  Sorry!  The June challenge has come around SO quickly, that it actually doesn't feel like a month since the last one.  Anyway, here is what my brother picked out from my collection:

Collection 2000 - Blue Hawaii
Outdoor Girl - Unnamed Peach
Black Nail Art Pen (From Primark)

He, like Jamie, picked pastels - and even exactly the same peachy shade as the April #HePicksMyPolish!  Weird!  Using these picks, this is what I created:

World Cup Nails - Spain/Mata

Alas, the World Cup is here!  It all kicked off yesterday, and I was even there.... Well, okay, I wasn't actually there, but my face was!  I was on the 'Happiness Flag' which was put together by Coca Cola featuring fan photos from all over the World!

Pins show where my photo's are on the flag!
If you haven't worked it out by now, then I must tell you, I am a massive football fan.  Massive.  I'm talking season ticket for my hometown football team for the last 10 years, visiting random football matches just to get my fix, and watching pretty much any football that is on TV.  And by football, I mean soccer (just for all the American speaking people!).

Visiting The Big G

Catch Ups, Glasgow 2014 Photoshoot and 'The Big G'
9th June, 2014

On Monday, I was in Glasgow for a Glasgow 2014 photoshoot.  I'm not revealing details of what the photos were for, but it's for something pretty cool (well, I think so anyway!).  I was so nervous beforehand, however, I had no reason to be as the photographer was really nice and I felt pretty special having my picture taken in Central Station!!

Katherine who I first met at another media day I did for Glasgow 2014 back in October was involved with this photoshoot too, so we managed to have a catch up, and ended up having our pictures taken together at Central.  Two others were also having their pictures taken at the same time, Claudia and Michael.
After the photoshoot, Katherine, Michael and I went to George Square to see 'The Big G'.

Here are a selection of photographs from a rainy George Square, Glasgow!

Poundworld Haul

I can't remember the last time I visited a Poundworld.  I am regularly in Poundland when I am in Glasgow, however, I don't think it has a Poundworld.  I was recently in Hamilton and saw a Poundworld, so I went in to see what they had and I managed to spend quite a bit of money in there!  It had about the same selection of nail polish as Poundland, however, I was amazed by the storage items they had.  I have loads of beads, and jewellery making bits and bobs, and although I have no room in my room at the moment to display everything nicely, I thought I had better grab the items while I had the chance.

Here are the polishes I got:

Dumfries & Galloway

This is the latest photograph I have of Mossy.  We put out a lot of food for garden birds, and pheasants, and the red kites have taken a liking to helping themselves to some of this food!  Mossy took some food up on to the telegraph pole to enjoy, and by the time I had found my camera, he had polished it off!

Nailsxo World Cup Nails 2014 - Nigeria

Nailsxo World Cup Nails 2014

Nails & Football, two of my favourite things!

I am so excited to be taking part in this challenge, which is the brainchild of Emily over at Nailsxo.

Everybody who is taking part in the challenge was assigned a random Country which is taking part in the World Cup in Brazil (not long until it starts, yay!).  After being given the Country (I was assigned Nigeria), the challenge was to make some nails based on the Country.  Also, which ever teams wins the World Cup, the person who was assigned them wins a prize (although, let's face it... I'm not really expecting Nigeria to do that well)!

So here they are:

My index and little fingers are my own take on Nigerian fabric patterns.
I was using my friend google to help me find some inspiration for my nails.  I found a website about Nigeria, and found out that tie dying is very popular.  I also did a google image search for Nigerian patterns/fabrics, and saw that there were lots of vibrant colours and repeating patterns used.  I thought about stamping, but I am utterly hopeless at that, so after trying that, I scrapped it and went freehand!

My middle finger is the Nigerian flag, using little gems.  This was my first attempt at full nail placement of any sort and it looked much more effective in my head!

My ring finger says 'YOBO 2'.  Joseph Yobo is the Nigerian captain, and their most capped player ever.  His squad number has recently been #2.  I had to redo this nail twice as I just could not write straight!

On my thumb I did the Brazilian flag, seeing as the World Cup is being held there.

As you can see, I had trouble finding just a couple of photo's to use...!

I think my favourite has to be the Brazilian flag (The yellow glows in the dark!!), followed closely by the funky yellow patterned index finger.

Take a look at all the other fantastic creations over HERE.  Trust me, they are actually amazing!!

PS.  My nails have already been involved in World Cup fever when I went to visit the World Cup Trophy!  Take a look at my nails and see me with the ACTUAL trophy here.

Here is a great picture I found predicting how good each of the teams are:

Guest Posts Would Very Much Be Welcomed!

I am currently struggling to keep my blog running and up to date whilst preparing for my month away (July/August), attending training days, making loads of summery jewellery to leave in the shop while I'm away, and keeping my nails polished, but I'm managing!  However, having to start thinking about writing even more posts to schedule for when I am away is very daunting!!

I was wondering if any of you lovely bloggers could help me out by doing a guest post, for me to post inbetween 8th July and 11th August.  I'm volunteering at the Commonwealth Games and will be staying in Glasgow/Stirling with no laptop and only my phone for internet.  I will try and write as many posts as I can myself, but a little help would go a long way!  I can of course repay the favour if you would like, on my return!

Posts could be reviews, swatches, nail art, photographs, five fun facts about yourself, a promotion for your blog or your products.... Pretty much anything!

Please get in touch in the comments, via twitter (@emma_qosfc), via email ( or any other way you find of contacting me! Haha.

Hello, June.

My June looks a little like this:

9th June - Glasgow!
Apart from having to go there and back in one day, meaning 4 hours on the bus, I am really looking forward to this quick trip to Glasgow.  Katherine from the media day I did (more coming about this when I publish my Clyde-Sider posts after the Games!) is also coming up to Glasgow, and Linsday (also media day) is too, so it will be nice to hopefully meet up with them again.  Once I'm done with what I need to do (something very exciting, I promise!) hopefully I will have time to go and pop in Poundland to see if they have any new JESS polishes, maybe visit Burger King for some chilli cheese bites (someone else please tell me that they are addicted to them too!  Living miles and miles away from a Burger King means I have to make the most of trips to Glasgow!), and also see The Big G (the new sculpture in George Square ready for the Commonwealth Games).
