After a bit of a disappointing start to the season, I decided to stick it out with my team and hope for improved performances... was this the correct decision? Let's take a look.

Here we are once again, the start of another Fantasy Premier League season!  Not long into my first season I have to admit I became a little obsessed, and this year I have taken my FPL addiction to a new level and subscribed to a new magazine solely about Fantasy Football !  The week before the Gameweek One deadline, I must have changed my team around a good thirty times.  The team I stuck with had some big players (with big price tags) - Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne, Christian Eriksen & Romelu Lukaku, I'm looking at you - as well as a few cheaper players like Nemanja Matic and Manolo Gabbiadini.  The lack of Chelsea players worried me slightly, but after their nightmare first match, I'm quite pleased I didn't have any in my team!  Let's see how my first Gameweek of the 2017/18 season went... Team: De Gea - 6 Cedric - 6 Bellerin - 1 Kompany - 6 Eriksen - 12 De Bruyne - 3 Matic - 3 Milivojevic - 1 Gabbiadini - 2 Kane (C) - 2 Lukaku (VC) - 13 ...

With things picking up a little last week, would my team continue to perform well or would it be downhill again?   Let's take a look at how my team did...

Another week to forget, or are things looking up?  Let's take a look...

I think this week needs to be filed in the 'best to forget' folder, along with week 22.  Is this the start of my demise? Probably, but 'Does It Really Mata'?  Yes, yes it does. I really want to do well and definitely do not want to end the season on a downer, so hopefully things will pick up again at the weekend!!

Potentially the week where it all went wrong.

Gameweek 21 was the week I played my wildcard.  I'm not sure if I'm happy with this decision, or regretting it a bit... Here's how my new look team got on:

We are now onto the second half of the season, and I still honestly cannot believe that I've done quite well so far.  I'm glad the festive period is now over as it's been very hectic with gameweeks coming thick and fast!  Let's see how gameweek 20 played out...

Wow... we are half way through the fantasy premier league already!  Crazy how fast it's gone.  And crazy how I have managed to climb to the top of the £15 Super League and stay there for a few weeks... how long can I stay there??  Let's take a quick look at how Gameweek 19 panned out. De Gea - 2 Azpilicueta - 1 Koscielny - 6 Williams - 1 Eriksen - 2 Coquelin - 1 Mata - 4 Hazard - 5 Negredo - 5 Ibrahimovic (c) - 10 Costa - 6 Pickford - 0, Fletcher - 2, Lovern - 8, Kingsley - 0. Total: 43 (Average 45) Overall Total: 1,005 The best player in my squad (not counting the x2 of the captain) was Lovren, and he was on the bench... Great move Emma!  The only reason I put him on the bench was because Liverpool were playing Manchester City and I was sure Man City would score.  The players actually in my team that scored highly were Koscielny and Costa.  Despite only playing 27 minutes, Mata managed an assist and 4 points. With both Costa and Kante suspended for this gameweek I decided to transfer out Kante,  but kept Costa as he is one of my best players!  For Kante, I bought in Fletcher - he'll be mainly on the bench, but will hopefully be decent (and cheap) back up.

Having taken first place in the £15 Super League all for myself in week 16, now it's time for me to try and create a little gap - and hope my captain choices are good ones!  Let's see what happened in Gameweek 17...

Week 15 was great, I reached the summit of the £15 Super League.  The only problem now is, it's pretty much only downhill from there...  Could I stay there after week 16 or would I start to slide down the table?  Let's take a look...

With Week 14 really giving me a boost, I was looking forward to Week 15 and seeing if I could close the gap on first place in the £15 Super League a little more.  Read on to see if I was successful in this or not...

I made one transfer and two changes to my team this week... Let's take a look at how that worked out for me: With Coutinho being a key player in my team, I felt with him being out for a few weeks it was worth transferring him out and bringing someone else in to (hopefully) score some points.  I decided to bring in Eriksen.  Out of the starting line up went Williams and Coutinho, and in came Lovren and Eriksen.

Last week was a pretty positive week, so I have gone for an unchanged team this week.  Let's see how my team did: I decided to transfer out Bellerin, who is currently out injured, for Lovren who seems a good replacement.  I think I may still transfer Bellerin back in again when he is fit, but who for - I'm not sure yet.

After the international break, it was back to league duty for the players.  Let's see how my team did this week: Luckily the break gave Costa time to recover from his injury ready to captain my team again this week.  Sadly Bellerin & Lamela are still out injured.  I substituted out goalkeeper Mignolet and bought in Pickford, as he seems to be scoring quite well at the moment, and will be a good addition to my team.  

I made a couple of subs ready for this gameweek:  I bought in Kingsley and Capoue for Galloway and Snodgrass respectively.  Due to Costa's performance last week, I kept him as captain for... was this the correct decision?

I made the decision to stick with Costa as my captain this week... Let's see how that worked out:

New week means yet another captain change.  I decided to go for Costa, as Chelsea were playing Manchester United and I figured with Costa scoring quite a few goals recently he would probably score, so I might as well get double points which would help cancel out the pain of losing points from De Gea conceding.  Let's see what happened...
